BOX ELDER COUNTY JUSTICE COURT
The Box Elder County Justice Court handles all criminal and traffic cases that involve class B misdemeanors, class C misdemeanors, and infractions. The maximum penalties for offenses in the Justice Court are indicated below. Cases in the Justice Court are initiated in one of two ways: (1) by a citation (with or without arrest); or (2) by a summons and the filing of a charging document called an "Information." The First District Court handles all adult offenses for class A misdemeanors, third degree felonies, second degree felonies, and first degree felonies. Cases in the District Court are initiated only by the filing of a charging document (with or without arrest) called an "Information."
