Programs

Our Department offers numerous programs to assist the public of Box Elder County in identifying and treating state noxious weeds that may be found on their property. We realize that each situation can be unique, and so we have tailored our programs to fit the different needs that may arise.

1.) General Noxious Weed Information

Wyatt and Courtland are available over the phone, through text, email, Facebook messenger, or in-person to answer questions you may have about noxious weeds. We enjoy answering questions, and strive to provide expert advice on weed identification, treatment methods, and creating detailed weed control plans.

2.) Loaner Sprayers

We keep various spray systems on hand to loan out to the public, free of charge, to landowners that may not have access to such equipment. The spray systems consist of:

  • ATV mounted, 25 gallon tanks
  • UTV mounted, 75 gallon tanks
  • Trailer sprayers, 50 gallons

3.) Landowner Participation Program

To landowners that have noxious weeds on their property, we offer small amounts of herbicide free of charge. This is by pick-up only, and recipients of said herbicide must sign a form acknowledging they have been educated on the specific herbicides they have received; above all else, THE LABEL IS THE LAW. **Herbicide is only available as supplies last**

4.) Cost-Share Aerial Treatments

On select weeds that receive the appropriate funding, we offer the opportunity to landowners to participate in cost-share aerial treatments. Currently, we offer these treatments on Dyer's Woad, Rush Skeletonweed, and Scotch Thistle. This is a first come, first serve program.

5.) Community Spray Days

We currently hold 4 spray days in various parts of the county, treating different noxious weeds. We are always looking for new projects; these spray days usually consist of the us providing herbicide and spray equipment to cooperatively spray designated infestations.
