Lot 11 - Faircrow (Scarecrow) Contest

138. Faircrow – Scarecrow 

Premium: First Place $25, Second place $20, Third place $15, all others $5

Rules for Scarecrow Contest:

  • Limit of one scarecrow per household.
  • Only entries created in the current Fair year will be accepted
  • Entries must be hand-made and should incorporate natural materials
  • Designs must be in good taste and suitable for family viewing.  
  • Scarecrow must be at least 3′, but not more than 6′ tall,
  • Exhibitors must supply their own means of anchoring the scarecrow, such as stakes, rods, pins, etc.  
  • The following will not be allowed:
  • No kits may be used
  • Animatronic/electric parts are not permitted.  
  • No commercial costumes, rubber or plastic masks, etc.
  • Exhibits which display material of a controversial or political nature will not be permitted. 
  • Use of copyrighted or trademarked characters or logos are not allowed.  This includes but not limited to TV, Movie, Video, etc. characters.   The use of the 4-H and FFA emblems are allowed
  • Items that represent or can be used as weapons will not be allowed on display.
  • No hand-outs can be associated with a scarecrow entry.
  • We reserve the right to remove any that do not meet these standards. 
  • ORGANIZERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE TO THE ENTRIES.

This year we will be using the Online Fair Entry Program for entering Crop and Garden Produce exhibits.  Skip waiting in lines by registering your exhibits online before bringing them to the fair at https://befair.fairentry.com/Fair/SignIn/19353

Entries are not final until they have been submitted and you get an e-mail confirming your entries.  Bring the confirmation with you to the Fair on your check-in day. 


Agricultural Crops, Garden Produce and Baled Hay Schedule

Wednesday, August 21

  • Exhibit Acceptance: 7-9 a.m.
  • Hay Contest Entry: 8-11 a.m.
  • Exhibit Judging: 10 a.m.

Thursday, August 22

  • Vegetable Judging Contest: 3-5 p.m.
  • Hay Judging Contest: All day (continues through Saturday)

Friday, August 23

  • Hay Judging Contest: All day

Saturday, August 24

  • Hay Judging Contest: All day (ends in the afternoon)
  • Exhibit Release: 9:30-10 p.m.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR AGRICULTURAL CROPS AND GARDEN PRODUCE

 

1. Exhibits will be accepted on Tuesday, August 20, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, August 21 from 7 to 9  am.

2. Entries are restricted to residents of Box Elder County.

3. Only one entry per person of the same kind or variety will be accepted.

4. The entry must include the exact number of specimens as identified in the class list or it will not be accepted or judged.

5. All exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor.

6. All entries will be judged on their own merit and judging is closed to the public.

7. All vegetables and fruit exhibits should be as near market maturity and quality and as fresh as possible.

8. All specimens in the exhibit should be of the same color, size, shape, maturity, and variety.

9. Specimens should be clean and free of soil and blemishes caused by insects, bruising, wind, etc.

10. Exhibitors must be 5 years of age or older.

11. Judging of exhibits will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

12. EXHIBITS IN THE CROP BARN WILL BE RELEASED AT 9:30 PM ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 24th.  THE SUPERVISORS WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CROP EXHIBITS OR RIBBONS UNCLAIMED AFTER 10 P.M. ON SATURDAY, AUG. 24th.

13. IT IS THE EXHIBITOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THE EXHIBITS ARE ENTERED IN THE PROPER CLASS.

14. Class Criteria are as follows:

A - Adult 18 years and older

B - 4-H/FFA Currently enrolled in 4-H or FFA

C - Youth 17 years and younger
